| 内容記述 | ベクトル解析において，記号∇はHamiltonの演算子またはナブラと呼ばれ，スカラー場とベクトル場を対応づけるベクトル微分演算子である，ことはよく知られている．しかし，一対何故ナブラと呼ばれるのか十分わかっていないように思われる．そこで，本研究では，ナブラの語源に溯りその後の歴史を辿りながら，記号∇とその呼び名ナブラが徐々に定着した経緯について述べる． | |||||||

| 内容記述 | As you know well, the symbol ∇ is called the Hamiltonian operator or "nabla" in the vector analysis. The symbol ∇ is significant differential operator which relates the scalar field to the vector field. In general, however, the etymological root of "nabla" is not known sufficiently. Therefore we make clear the etymology of symbol ∇ used for the gradient, and trace the history of the symbol form the viewpoint of linguitics. | |||||||
