| 値 | 「知りたくなかった」のような表現の解釈には、「知りたい」を直接否定する解釈と、「知っている」の否定を好む解釈の2 通りがあり、あたかも否定辞のスコープに曖昧性があるかのように見える。本稿の目的は、このような現象について、それはあくまでも見かけ上の曖昧性であり、構成的意味論によって、そのような解釈は説明可能であることを明らかにすることである。疑問文埋め込み文をとる「知っている」のような動詞の意味論と埋め込み疑問文の意味論を形式的に記述し、それと「～たい」の意味論との相互作用で、上記の見かけ上の曖昧性が導かれることを明らかにする。 | |||||||

| 値 | There are apparently two interpretations for such expressions as siritakunakatta (‘know-want-not-past’): direct negation of siritai (‘know-want’) and the interpretation where the negation of knowing is preferred. In this article, I will aim to clarify that such apparent ambiguity concerning the scope of the negative morpheme nai can be explained by compositional semantics. Formal semantic representations will be given for such verbs as sitteiru (‘know’) and embedded interrogatives, which will then be combined with the semantics of tai (‘want’) and the apparent ambiguity mentioned above will be shown to follow. | |||||||
