| 内容記述 | 女性図書館員が恋愛を経験することで変わっていく小説として,『蠍のいる森』『Open Season』(翻訳タイトル『パーティーガール』)をとりあげ,図書館員の描かれ方の違いやその背景にある事情を明らかにしようと試みた。ストーリーの中心人物が,図書館に勤める三十代の女性という共通した部分はあっても,恋愛に対する意識や,それを体験することで生じてくる状況の変化への対応については,日本の事例は受動的・他律的であり,アメリカの事例では,能動的・自律的であったといえよう。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | In this paper the two novels, the one is Japanese and the other American : The Wood where a Scorpion Is and Open Season are taken up. Each of them is about a woman librarian's growth through her experience in a love affair. Analyzing them, I try to make clear the differences of the way each woman is described and of the situations in the background of them. Both novels deal with a woman in her 30s working at a library, but their consciousnesses of love affair and reactions to the changes of the circumstances caused by their experiences are quite different : in the Japanese case the heroine is passive and heteronomous, and in the other heroine is active and autonomous. | |||||
