| 内容記述 | エチオピア北部の山奥に独自のユダヤ教を遵守しながら、数千年間にわたって、自らを地球最後のユダヤ人と信じて暮らしてきた「ファラシャ」と呼ばれる黒人ユダヤ教徒たちがいた。 1991年5月、メンギスツ・ハイレ・マリアムの独裁主義政権が崩壊する直前、1万4千人のエチオピア・ユダヤ人をたった25時間で、(35機の飛行機が41回飛行)、イスラエルに空輸する、という大脱出が行われた。「ソロモン作戦」と名づけられたこの大規模かつ短期間の内に実施された帰還(アリヤー)は、いったい誰が交渉をすすめ、またどのように準備され、実行に移されていったのか。これまで「奇跡」という一言ですまされてきたこの歴史的偉業の詳細について研究した。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | For several thousand years the black Jews of Ethiopia, called "the Falashas," have maintained their faith and their identity in the deep mountains of north Ethiopia. In May 1991, just before the collapse of the Ethiopian government led by Mengistu Haile Mariam, an exodus was carried out. In that exodus some fourteen thousand Falashas were airlifted to Jerusalem within twenty-five hours; thirty-five military and civilian planes made forty-one flights. This paper discusses the details of this Aliya, or rescue from tyranny in the midst of civil war, known as Operation Solomon, which has long been regarded as a sheer miracle. Specifically, the lingering questions as to who did the negotiations, how was it prepared, and for what reason are examined. | |||||||||
