| 内容記述 | 本稿は、国立公文書館アジア歴史資料センターのデジタルアーカイブを用いて、西南戦争（明治十年）に関係する陸軍のラッパ信号の用い方を分析することを目的としている。同アーカイブを「喇叭」等のキーワードで検索し、抽出された約三二〇件のデータは、楽器としてのラッパについて、ラッパ手について、ラッパ信号についてのデータに分類することができる。とくにラッパ信号を中心に分析を進めると、数多くのフランスのラッパ信号が用いられたこと、戦争が終盤となった九月になってから数曲のマーチを練習していたことが明らかになっただけでなく、「喇叭暗号」という特殊な用法が存在したことがわかった。 ラッパ暗号とは、あらかじめ定められたラッパ信号を問答形式で交わすことによって敵・味方を識別する用法である。しかしながら、資料から読み取れるのは、ラッパ暗号が記載された手帳や文書が敵の手に渡り、何度も改正を余儀なくされたという失態である。ラッパ暗号の運用には問題はあったものの、総じてラッパ手たちは数多くのラッパ信号を吹奏していたようであり、それまでのラッパ教育が順調であったことがうかがえる。 |

| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to analyze the usage of the Army's bugle call related to the Seinan War of 1877, by searching the digital archive of Japan Center for Asian Historical Records, National Archives of Japan. Approximately 320 data extracted by searching the archive with keywords such as "Rappa" can be classified into data on bugles as musical instruments, bugle player, and bugle call. Focusing on the bugle call in particular, it is found that many French bugle calls and marches were used, and that there was a special usage called "bugle sign". Bugle sign was communication for identifying an enemy or an ally by exchanging a predetermined bugle call in a question-andanswer format. However, many records show that bugle sign and countersign fell into the hands of the enemy and had to be revised many times. Although there were problems with the operation of the bugle sign, the bugler generally played a large number of bugle calls, suggesting that the bugle education has been successful since the Meiji Restoration. |
