| 値 | A central theme of Weber's essay on the Spirit of Capitalism is focused on the religious determinants to the formation of industrial ethos. It argues that religious ideas, paticularly Calvinist's predestination doctrine, make the believers unrest and lead them to adopt the ethical posture. This paper attempts to trace the religious sociological formative powers by analislng the practical works of a Puritan pastor;Richard Baxter. Baxter's ministrial practices;preaching, pastoral care, church dicipline, show how he motivates his people to the regenerate life and what the well-ordered or-dinary practice is like and how they attain it. Here is illustrated the matter in which religious ideas become effective force in history. |
