値 | The Jews who left Egypt were given a code of laws while in the Sinai. (Chapter 19 in the book of Exodus, and Chapter 27 and 34 in the book of Leviticus.) They began writing "The NUMBERS" (〓〓〓〓〓) just before leaving the Sinai. In the numbers, many words pertaining to human and body were used. The purpose of thls study is to pick out and separate all of the words from numbers as translated by the Japan Bible Association, which pertain to the human and body. 1. Words referring to a body part were used 138 times. Among these words, the word "Eyes" (〓〓〓) was used 18 times. 2. Words referring to life were used 138 times. Among these words, "Kill" (〓〓〓) was used 58 times and "death" (〓〓〓) was used 52 times. 3. Words referring to a condition of the body were used 47 times. Among these, the word "body" (〓〓〓) was used 16 times. 4. Other words referring to the human body were used 78 times. Among these, the word "body" (〓〓〓) was used 56 times. We believe that the contemporary version of "The NUMBERS" was written in 400 B.C. There are two articles in "The NUMBERS" concerning a census. We do not know the reasons for the articles, or why they were written in such detail. It may have been necessary to group the working people together in order to establish the Holy Land. While in the Sinai, many of the people complained that their God and the times were out of joint. The writer of "The NUMBERS" used "Body and Human" to neatly express incidents such as disgraceful affairs, unfaithful wives and breaches of faith in their ancestors'way of life. According to "The NUMBERS" the leader of the people is the God of Yahweh and not Moses. "The NUMBERS" is, therefore, a record of how God protected and led an unfaithful and treacherous people through a desert land. |
