| 値 | In ail twenty-four Chapters of Joshua, words concerning "human" and "body" are used 142 times. Examination of these usages reveals the following : 1. At the time that Joshua was written, the meaning of "human" and "body" were different from their usage in Greek and modern times. 2. Words about each portion of the body were used fifty-seven tirnes. Among these twenty-nine words referred to the upper portion of the body. Twelve words concerned the head, eleven words the lower portion of the body, and five words the trunk. 3. Words in connection with "life" are used fifty-six times. Words related to killing are mentioned twenty-three times, and related to "leave" words are used thirteen times. 4. Words concerning the condition of the body are used eighteen times and words referring to cjrcumcision nine times. 5. Words related to other parts of the body are used twelve times, and words referring to the spiritual "heart" are used nine times. |
