| 内容記述 | 今、北極・南極の温暖化はどうなっているのだろうか？近年の地球温暖化の中で、北極は強い温暖化を示している。北極では、全球平均の２倍以上の激しい温暖化が現れており、北極海の海氷も著しく減少している。さらに、北極温暖化の影響が中緯度にも現れ、日本の冬の異常気象をもたらすことがあるとのこと。これには、上空の成層圏を通したプロセスも働き、成層圏ー対流圏結合を通して、秋の成層圏の極渦を弱め、それがさらに冬の対流圏に伝わり環状モードを弱めジェット気流の蛇行を拡大し、寒波の吹き出しを強め、ユーラシア大陸東岸、日本付近の寒波・豪雪をもたらすというものである。 一方、南極では、南極半島域では強い温暖化が現れているのに対し（この温暖化が最近弱まっているとの説もあり）、昭和基地を含む東南極では温暖化が顕著にはみえない。南極上空にオゾンホールが発達したために温暖化が抑えられているとの説が有力である。オゾンが減ることで強められた極渦が対流圏にも伝わり環状モードを強め、暖気の流入を抑え温暖化を止めているとのことである。これも、成層圏ー対流圏結合が要になっているが、北極とは逆の方向に働いている。 このような、南極、北極での温暖化の違い、成層圏ー対流圏結合の正反対の働き、これらはどのように統一的に理解されるのであろうか？ |
