| 内容記述 | 満州事変以降の各市町村では，国防同盟会・銃後奉公会などの名称を有する銃後後援団体を設立，歓送迎や慰問などの後援活動，公葬を実施した。それは前線兵士の“労苦”，死の公的な意義づけ，顕彰であった。これを受けた兵士，遺族たちの側も「身命を君国に捧げ」る覚悟を披瀝したり，身内の死者が「護国ノ神トナツテ益々皇基ノ御隆昌ヲ護ラル」だろうなどと繰り返し声明させられたことは，彼らが公定の〈正義〉の論理に同意させられていく過程に他ならなかったのではないかと思われる。政府，軍が“郷土”の慰問・激励を奨励し続けた理由は，そこにあった。 ただし，戦中戦後を通じて兵士たちの“郷土”がその“労苦”，犠牲の顕彰に努力し続けたことは，遺族たちにとって身内の死の「意義」の説明をうけることでもあった。それが彼らの一定度の謝意を獲得してもいったことは，注目されて然るべきと考える。 |

| 内容記述 | After the Manchurian Incident, the municipal authorities established home-front support associations such as “Kokubo-Domeikai” or “Jugo-Hokokai”. They developed the home-front support activities like farewell and welcome meetings or consolation and public funerals. These activities manifested labor of the men up front and deaths in battle, which were given public significance. The soldiers or the bereaved families who were manifested were enforced to proclaim repeatedly their readiness to risk their lives for their sovereign and country, or their hopes that the dead would be guardian gods of the state. This seems to have been nothing but the process in which they were forced to agree with the official “righteousness”. This was the reason why the state and the military authorities kept promoting consolation and encouragement by “hometown”. Nonetheless, the fact that the soldiers' “hometown” kept making efforts to manifest the “labor” and sacrifice of the soldiers, was important for the bereaved families, because it explained them the significance of the family members' deaths. It deserves attention that the manifestation acquired certain gratitude of the bereaved families. |
