Most abundant part of gastrointestinal glucagon-related peptides is L-cell enteroglucagon and glucagon-like peptide(GLP). Enteroglucagon is released accompanying GLP-1, so, measurement of enteroglukagon shows the change of GLP-1 in circulation. Some fractions of enteroglucagon, oxyntomodulin and glucagon(1-21), may have biological activities to regulate digestion and absorption, and intestinal growth. Active form of GLP-1, GLP-1(7-36 amide), is a potent insulinotropic and glucagonostatic hormone and plays an important role as an incretin.
