Among several noteworthy facts found in the novel Kowata no Shigure, Miss Tamura mentions (C) the baths at the Arima spa in the Province of Tu (Settsu), now Hyōgo Prefecture. Taking the baths there for seven days, the hero of the novel Tono no Chū-Nagon healed his wound. Zuikei Shūhō, a Zen priest of letters, recorded in his Travels to the Arima Spa in 1452 that written Instructions for Spa Treatment were ready for visitors at the spa. The Instructions told them to take the baths few times for the first seven days, many times for the second seven days, and again few times for the third seven days. (This may be admired as a very early sprout of hot-spring medicine in the history of medicine.) The author of the novel did not write unmeaningly that Tono no Chū-Nagon took the baths for seven days. \n Next she turns her attention to (D) the manner of writing Japanese poems inserted in the prose narrative of the novel. Discussing at large, the most prevalent manner is to write a poem on a new line and to write the succeeding prose on another new line, but in this MS. of Kowata the succeeding prose is written on the same line immediately after the poem without any space. This manner of writing a poem has the literary effect of amalgamating the poem and the narrative. Further, several other manners of inserting poems in the prose narrative are seen in other MSS. Miss Tamura treated of this problem on the occasion of the 6th public lecture meeting held by the institute of Art Research in October, 1971, and will publish the details in some future number or numbers of this Journal.\n After a bibliographical account of the old MS. in the library of Mr. Yoshida, the documents attached to the MS. are described. The most important of them is Sano (Haiya) Jōeki\u0027s letter. Jōeki (1607-1691), a wealthy merchant of refined taste in Kyoto, was a votary of the art of ceremonial tea-making and of various other arts. According to his letter the MS. was shown to the Emperor Go-Mizunoo (1596-1680), who, recommending the classical grace of the novel, ordered Asukai Masaaki (1611-1679), a literary court noble, to make a copy of the MS. This letter is also valuable as a comparatively rare specimen of the handwriting of this man of taste Jōeki.\n In the last chapter another MS. copy of the novel is mentioned. It is in the library of the University of Kyoto, and was introduced to the learned world in 1937 by Prof. Takuya TAMAGAMI in No. 10, Vol. 7, Kokugo Kokubun published by the Kokubun Gakkai, University of Kyoto. Miss Tamura attributes the wrong order found in the text of the University of Kyoto MS. to the misrestoration of some stray leaves off Yoshida MS., and, identifying the handwriting of the University MS. with Asukai Masaaki\u0027s concludes that the University MS. is no other than the copy Masaaki is said in Jōeki\u0027s letter to have made of the MS. now in the library of Mr. Yoshida by order of the Emperor Go-Mizunoo.", "subitem_description_type": "Abstract"}]}, "item_10001_description_6": {"attribute_name": "内容記述", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_description": "第287号、p.40に本論文の正誤表掲載。", "subitem_description_type": "Other"}]}, "item_creator": {"attribute_name": "著者", "attribute_type": "creator", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"creatorNames": [{"creatorName": "田村, 悦子"}], "nameIdentifiers": [{"nameIdentifier": "27232", "nameIdentifierScheme": "WEKO"}]}, {"creatorNames": [{"creatorName": "Tamura, Etsuko", "creatorNameLang": "en"}], "nameIdentifiers": [{"nameIdentifier": "27233", "nameIdentifierScheme": "WEKO"}]}]}, "item_files": {"attribute_name": "ファイル情報", "attribute_type": "file", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"accessrole": "open_date", "date": [{"dateType": "Available", "dateValue": "2017-10-04"}], "displaytype": "detail", "download_preview_message": "", "file_order": 0, "filename": "277_18_Tamura_Redacted.pdf", "filesize": [{"value": "27.1 MB"}], "format": "application/pdf", "future_date_message": "", "is_thumbnail": false, "licensetype": "license_11", "mimetype": "application/pdf", "size": 27100000.0, "url": {"label": "277_18_Tamura_Redacted.pdf", "url": "https://tobunken.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/6642/files/277_18_Tamura_Redacted.pdf"}, "version_id": "f06ca4f5-ef9d-4989-85a9-dfb506c06fe5"}, {"accessrole": "open_date", "date": [{"dateType": "Available", "dateValue": "2021-05-13"}], "displaytype": "detail", "download_preview_message": "", "file_order": 1, "filename": "287_40_Seigohyo _Redacted.pdf", "filesize": [{"value": "477.9 kB"}], "format": "application/pdf", "future_date_message": "", "is_thumbnail": false, "licensetype": "license_11", "mimetype": "application/pdf", "size": 477900.0, "url": {"label": "正誤表", "url": "https://tobunken.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/6642/files/287_40_Seigohyo _Redacted.pdf"}, "version_id": "5df2f644-6622-4bb9-a1c0-273f13bd8d35"}]}, "item_keyword": {"attribute_name": "キーワード", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_subject": "佐野紹益書状(古写本『こわたの時雨』附属文書・京都 吉田忠氏蔵)木幡・中世物語文学", "subitem_subject_scheme": "Other"}, {"subitem_subject": "Letter of Sano Joeki, A related Document to a Mnuscript of the Kowata no Shigure, Owned by Mr. Yoshida Tadashi, Kyoto", "subitem_subject_language": "en", "subitem_subject_scheme": "Other"}]}, "item_language": {"attribute_name": "言語", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_language": "jpn"}]}, "item_resource_type": {"attribute_name": "資源タイプ", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"resourcetype": "journal article", "resourceuri": "http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]}, "item_title": "吉田忠氏蔵古写本『こわたの時雨』について 下", "item_titles": {"attribute_name": "タイトル", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_title": "吉田忠氏蔵古写本『こわたの時雨』について 下"}, {"subitem_title": "A Study of a Manuscript of the Kowata no Shigure, a Japanese Medieval Novel (Part II)", "subitem_title_language": "en"}]}, "item_type_id": "10001", "owner": "3", "path": ["1111"], "permalink_uri": "https://tobunken.repo.nii.ac.jp/records/6642", "pubdate": {"attribute_name": "公開日", "attribute_value": "2017-10-05"}, "publish_date": "2017-10-05", "publish_status": "0", "recid": "6642", "relation": {}, "relation_version_is_last": true, "title": ["吉田忠氏蔵古写本『こわたの時雨』について 下"], "weko_shared_id": 3}
