| 内容記述 | 絵本作家・島田ゆかの「バムとケロ」シリーズには，一つの家に暮らす白犬バムとかえるのケロのほのぼのとした日常が描かれている。バムとケロには性別や年齢が付与されていないが，いたずらっ子のケロの世話を焼く有能なホームメイカー・バムの姿は子育てに従事する母親に似ている。母親的役割を担っていても母親ではないバムとケロの関係は実に曖昧で，時によって，友達にもきょうだいにも親子にも見える。家族のごっこ遊びをしているふたりの子どもと捉えることもできる。このシリーズは，絵本ならではの特性を生かし，家庭生活を描きながら，親子関係を描かないという特異な設定を成立させた。時に息苦しさを生み出す要因にもなる義務や責任とは無縁ののどかな家庭生活の風景は，読者にある種の解放感と安らぎを与える｡大人でもあり子どもでもあり，男でも女でもあるバムは，読み手に応じた顔を見せ，遊び心に満ちたこの鮮やかな魔法空間に読み手たちを招くのである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Yuka Shimada’s Bam and Kero picture book series describes the domestic life of a maternal dog and a naughty frog. Bam, an able homemaker, plays the role of Kero’s mother, but Bam and Kero are not truly parent and child. Their ages and genders remain uncertain, and their relationship is extremely ambiguous. Bam, who acts as an adult on some occasions and a child on others, is simultaneously Kero’s reliable guardian and playmate. Although the two live in a house together as a family, it seems that they are playacting at housekeeping. By removing the parent?child relationship from the familial context, this series produces a comfortable space, free of duties and responsibilities that can cause stress. Thus, the world of Bam and Kero provides readers with a sense of liberation and consolation. Bam, who is grown-up, childish, male, and female at once, presents various faces to readers and invites them into a colorful and playful picture-book world. | |||||
