| 内容記述 | This study examined differences of manual dexterity, skillfulness of hands and fingers, of primary school children between 2017 and 2007. In 2017, the 5 minutes thread-tying test and questionnaire measuring their interest and confidence towards their skills and home economics class were conducted to 246 boys and 231 girls at 6th grade in 6 elementary schools in Tokyo. The results showed that (1) in both years, girls made significantly more knots than boys (p<0.001), (2) either gender groups in 2017 made less knots than the ones in 2007, (3) girls answered the questionnaire more positively than boys, and (4) manual dexterity had positive partial regression coefficients with “confidence in tasks using hands and fingers”, “high level of awareness of home economics classes”, and “practicing what they have learned in the home economics classes at home”. These results suggested that home economics classes and practices at home would have positive effects on improving manual dexterity of elementary school children. | |||||||||||||||||
