This study examines the relationships between physical fitness and dietary intake, and body mass index (BMI) in students. The subjects were 398 female university students, who were divided into three groups according to BMI (Lean, <18.5; Normal, 18.5≦BMI<25; and obese, ≧25 kg/㎡). The results showed that the lean group had weaker grip strength than the obese group, and, for both instantaneous force and endurance, the obese group showed poorer performance than other groups. With regard to dietary intake, the highest protein intake (%E) was found in the obese group, who also consumed more animal protein and fat than the other groups.
